Capital project: Belle Haven Community Campus

As the director of recreation and library services for the City of Menlo Park, I served as client manager to design, develop, build and open the $60 million Belle Haven Community Campus project. The project includes a 37,000 square foot multi-service facility with a gymnasium, recreation center, aquatics center, branch library, youth center, senior center and event hall.

The new facility is an all-electric, zero combustion, net zero energy project with onsite renewable energy generation, battery microgrid, and electric vehicle charging stations, and its structural design is resilient to serve as an emergency shelter.

The project’s major funder and builder is Meta Platforms, Inc. (formerly Facebook), with additional financial support from the City of Menlo Park and supplemented with private donations. The new facility is owned and operated by City of Menlo Park under my leadership as recreation and library director.
